NHPC have passed a motion declaring a ‘climate emergency’. We have done this to express our deep concern about the growing threat of climate change and to commit ourselves to play our part in tackling this global problem. Our powers and impacts as a Parish Council may be limited but we are joining thousands of other councils around the world (including the Vale District Council and Oxford City Council) in doing what we can at every level.
We are going to work with other groups in our parish with the aim of getting as many people as possible engaged and active. At one level this may be about simple issues such as saving energy and cutting food waste. It all matters. But it’s also about working to oppose the proposed Expressway, and about making sure that Vale and the County Council use their powers under the planning and transport systems to help create a genuinely sustainable future.
